Description
Useful for so many jobs:
- Slitting carbide
- Producing screw slots
- Slicing gemstones
- Coldwork cutting glass jobs: rods, slots, notches, slices
- Cutting shell and bone slithers
- Geology specimen extraction
Use the outside edge of the diamond discs for slitting screw slots in watches and clocks or for cutting through small pieces of tungsten carbide and other hard materials like our carbide rod and carbide gravers.
The 2 main faces can be used as a abrasive for sharpening or polishing the edges of hard materials especially when a precise and delicate tool is required.
We offer two thicknesses of diamond discs; one for really thin and fine work and the other for more general all purpose work.
“Today I’ve been putting a new tooth in a carriage clock wheel, I found the 0.17mm diamond slitting disc great for shaping the new tooth” - Julius Pidduck
How to use our Diamond Slitting Discs
Our diamond cutting discs need to be run at a relatively slow speed and the addition of water as a coolant will extend their life. However, we understand that using water is not always practical with horology or certain jewellery work and so they can be used dry. Ensure you use light fingertip pressure and never force the disc onto the work.
To be held on a screw mandrel
"The 0.17mm slitting disc is outstanding! Far superior to any of the other stuff I have wasted money on in the past. Excellent company, I’ll definitely be back” - Eugene Stevenson
Disclaimer. Using rotary tools near water has never been, to the best of our knowledge, endorsed by any of the rotary tool manufacturers. If you do choose to drill near water or with attachments under water connected to your drill then you do so at your own risk. Please be aware that mixing electricity and water can be very dangerous.
