Micro Mesh Soft Touch Sanding Pads (Set of 9)
This is a set of 9, silicone carbide grit, Soft Touch Sanding Pads by MicroMesh. The handy sized squares will produce a mirror finish to many applications and are used by polymer clay bead jewellers, wood turners, pen turners, musical instrument makers, furniture restorers, and model makers and for small projects on woods, Vulcanite, acrylics, resin, paint, plastics, most metals and polymer clay.
Can be used wet or dry but to preserve the life of the pad, use wet with little pressure. Dry off thoroughly after use. Work your way through the grades to produce a smooth surface with a high gloss finish.
Each 2" x 2" pad is colour coded and double sided so you get the use of both sides. The kit contains a reference card and one square of each of the following grits: 1500, 1800, 2400, 3200, 3600, 4000, 6000, 8000 & 12000. They are flexible and can therefore be manipulated and used folded up if need be for use on smaller projects.
Description
Micro Mesh features silicone carbide grit that you will find lasts longer than other sanding products. This is due to the construction of the abrasive that prevents the abrasive crystals from fracturing and overheating.
"I really like these little pads and the fact that they are double sided is great. Wood turners would enjoy using these pads to polish. They're ideal to hold against a spinning cylindrical form. They have a place with the wood carver as well, I have two carvings that easily benefit from these pads; one a Tagua nut carving and a Whitby jet carving. You can really apply a high polish with these and I would definitely recommend them" - Jason Townsend. The Woodcarvers Gazette
"You can get a nice satin finish on silver a lot faster and a lot more even than with conventional papers. They're flexible which is really useful for flat and curved shapes, you've got the edges and the corners too, and when they do get dirty you just flip it over and you've got the other side as well. A really, really great set and I highly recommend them" - Dave Wilson. Celtic Dreams
Helpful Note: Sand to a uniform level first then begin by using the 1500 grit and work your way through the grades to 12000.

Other questions and our answers
Can the micro mesh soft touch sanding pads be used to polish out a small chip on the edge of a glass panel (sliding door in a display cabinet)?
Ideally you would need to use a diamond based product such as a diamond polishing cloth, diamond hand pad or better still the diamond paste (1 micron or 3 micron)
It will depend on how deep the chip is as to how coarse or fine you need the diamond abrasive to be. It is better to go with a finer grade and work with it for longer than use a coarse grit and find you've actually caused more marks around the chip.
