I want to extract a core using a core drill, is this possible?
Yes, however the diamond core drills are intended for drilling a hole rather than extracting a core so we can not guarantee the results. That said, we have customers in Universities and research labs who use them for this purpose with success.
The core diameter is usually 2 - 4 mm smaller than the overall diameter of the drill bit. Due to the arbitrary nature of how diamonds are deposited onto the drill surface it is very difficult to give very tight tolerances for using a core drill in this way.
