Description

When used correctly the diamond grit will grind away at your work but please be sure to use with water, light pressure and do not exceed a drill speed of approx. 12,000rpm.

The speed can be increased as you find your way with the burr, however beware of overheating as this will cause the diamond grit to come free of the shank and therefore shorten the life of your tool.

Always wear your safety goggles and a face mask, especially when carving shell or bone.

  • Carve, shape hard materials
  • Use on stone, glass, ceramic, hard wood, shell, porcelain
  • Coated diamond grit onto steel shank
  • Use in a die grinder, hand held drill, pendant drill, drill press...

Disclaimer. Using rotary tools near water has never been, to the best of our knowledge, endorsed by any of the rotary tool manufacturers. If you do choose to drill near water or with attachments under water connected to your drill then you do so at your own risk. Please be aware that mixing electricity and water can be very dangerous.

Other questions and our answers

I am after a simple tool to allow me to cut a slot in a bottle (I want to make some coin piggy banks out of bottles). I am thinking a 5mm diamond cylinder burr would allow me to 'drill' into the bottle, then move across to make a slot. I only have a DeWalt power drill. Is this likely to work, or can you suggest a better solution?

Thanks for your enquiry, sounds like a nice project.

We recommend drilling a hole first with a diamond core drill, then you can put the cylinder burr in the hole and move it along each way to create the coin slot.

The 5mm cylinder burrs have a shank of 2.35mm so you will need to make sure the Dewalt has an adjustable chuck.  Alternatively if it's an ongoing project invest in a Dremel 3000 with a Dremel Multi Chuck.
