Carbide Cup Burrs for Rounding Off Wire

CB1

These carbide, concave Cup Burrs with a 2.35mm (3/32") shank have tiny teeth like cutters for grinding, cutting, smoothing, deburring and rounding off all metals, bone, wood, plastics, resin, gemstones and fossils.  Ideal for stone setters, model makers and for rounding off wire for jewellery making purposes. Use either in a pin vice, rotary drill, micro motor, pendant drill, or flexible shaft.

Helpful tip: The size of the cup burr you require should be just slightly larger than the wire you intend to file.

  • The 1.0mm cup burr will file wire thinner than 20 gauge
  • The 1.2mm cup burr will file wire thinner than 18 gauge
  • The 1.8mm cup burr will file thicker wire, up to 14 gauge
  • The 2.1mm cup burr will file thicker wire, up to 12 gauge

Available sizes to choose from: 1.00mm, 1.20mm, 1.40mm, 1.60mm, 1.80mm, 2.10mm, 2.30mm, Set of 7 (one of each size)

Cup burrs are also sometimes referred to as wire rounders, wire rounding tool, cup burs, bur cups and deburrers.

The size of the cup bur you choose should be just a hair larger than the wire you plan to use it on. For example, if you use 21-gauge (which is 0.723mm in diameter) to make ear wires, then you would want to use a cup bur of 0.8mm, or 1.00mm.

Tip: If using your wire rounding tool in a rotary tool, be sure to go nice and slow as you may find the metal adhering to the concave part of the cup, clogging it up with swarf.

“I use the cup burrs to round off the ends of taper pins which have been cut with side cutters. I use them hand-held in a pin vice. The tapered pins are soft and are used in clock making/restoration and a taper pin left unfinished looks unsightly. Thanks for providing excellent products and service” - Tony Roberts
